'Healthy' Food Packaging Design
Javeen's topic tackles the decseptive marketing in plant-based products that trick people into thinking they are opting for a 'healthier' alternative. As one of her proposed outcomes, she wanted to make an interactive exhibition where people could scan various products and uncover its hidden layers. Although slightly different, her topic reminded me of an AIGA article I had read last semester as I was briefly considering going into greenwashing about how climate change has become a 'brand' nowadays.
↘ AIGA articleDisposables in Hawker centres
This project tackles the unconsious use of disposable plastic utensils and specifically targets Kampung Admiralty hawker centre. I think its great to hear about other people tackling plastic waste and hear about what kind of angle they are taking. As part of her project, she went to the hawker centre to follow people around and observe their behaviours while aiming to create a possible intervention to their plastic-use habit. For her artefact, she mimicked a disposable utensil container that are usually in hawker centres and put some infographic around the sides to raise awarness of the issue.
I got reminded of my talk with Yasser last semester in which he suggested I could do similar primary research and go into wet markets in Jakarta to observe their habits. Although I haven't gotten around it, its a useful method ato get real-life insights.
Yingjia's Fruit stickers
Yingjia's investigation into fruit stickers is a very unique and fascinating topic. The outcomes she presented were visually interesting to look at and I admire her dedication to her topic. Looking back to year two, her project had remained consistent until now and her collection of fruit stickers has grown extensive over time. Although I'm not really sure what she is picturing for her final outcome, I'm 100% sure it is going to be as amazing as her outcomes so far.
